IL-1 beta
IL-1 beta is an important mediator of the inflammatory response,
and is involved in a variety of cellular activities, including cell proliferation,
differentiation, and apoptosis. It is produced by macrophages, monocytes, fibroblasts
and dendritic cells. IL-1 beta is a member of the IL-1 superfamily, which includes
IL-1 alpha, IL-1 beta, IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA), IL-18, IL-1F5, IL-1F6,
IL-1F7, IL-1F8, IL-1F9, IL-1F10, and IL-1F11 (IL-33). IL-1 alpha, IL-1 beta, IL-1RA,
and IL-18 have been renamed IL-1F1, IL-1F2, IL-1F3, and IL-1F4, respectively.
