The Bovine IL-6 (Interleukin-6) ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of bovine IL-6 in cell culture supernatants. With minor modifications to the assay procedure, this ELISA may also be used to measure IL-6 in additional biological sample types reported in the literature, including serum, plasma, whole blood, peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) culture supernatants, tissue homogenates or lysates, milk, colostrum, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), synovial fluid, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), depending on the experimental model and disease context. This flexibility supports a wide range of immunology and translational research applications. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a key role in immune regulation, inflammation, and hematopoiesis. Produced primarily by monocytes, macrophages, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells, IL-6 mediates acute-phase responses, B-cell differentiation, T-cell activation, and inflammatory signaling.
