  • The Swine CCL2 (Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1, MCP-1) ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of swine CCL2 in cell culture supernatants and can also be used to measure CCL2 in additional biological sample types reported in the literature, including serum, plasma, tissue lysates, and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, supporting a wide range of immunology, inflammation, and translational research applications. CCL2 is a chemokine primarily produced by monocytes, macrophages, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts, and it functions as a key mediator of monocyte and T cell recruitment to sites of inflammation or infection. In swine models, CCL2 is widely studied in the context of infectious disease, vaccine response, inflammatory disorders, and immune activation, where its expression reflects innate and adaptive immune responses. Measurement of CCL2 provides valuable insight into leukocyte trafficking, inflammatory signaling, and disease progression. Reported measurements of swine CCL2 have detected low to moderate picogram per milliliter concentrations in serum and plasma under basal conditions, with elevated levels observed following immune stimulation, infection, or tissue inflammation, and measurable CCL2 expression has also been reported in tissue lysates from affected organs. The kit contains a capture antibody, detection antibody, and recombinant protein standard for assay development, and these antibodies have been validated to function together in an ELISA format using the provided standard. Optimal buffers, antibody concentrations, incubation times, temperatures, and assay conditions have not been predetermined, allowing researchers to optimize sensitivity and dynamic range based on their specific sample type and experimental requirements. The quantities of kit components are not matched, and individual components may be purchased separately. This product is for research use only and is manufactured in the USA.

Swine CCL2 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 2, also known as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, MCP-1) is a pro-inflammatory chemokine that plays an important role in recruitment and activation of monocytes, macrophages, and memory T cells during immune responses in pigs (Sus scrofa domesticus). CCL2 signals primarily through the CCR2 receptor, activating intracellular pathways that promote leukocyte migration, cytokine production, and coordination of innate and adaptive immune responses at sites of infection, inflammation, or tissue injury. In swine health, CCL2 is particularly relevant in respiratory and systemic infectious diseases, including porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), swine influenza, and bacterial pneumonia, where monocyte and macrophage recruitment to the lungs influences both antiviral defense and inflammatory lung pathology. CCL2 is also involved in inflammatory responses in tissues such as the gut and joints, contributing to immune cell infiltration and tissue remodeling. While CCL2-mediated immune cell trafficking supports pathogen clearance and tissue repair, excessive or prolonged expression can contribute to chronic inflammation and tissue damage. Because pigs are widely used as large-animal models for human infectious, inflammatory, and cardiovascular diseases, characterization of swine CCL2 supports research into chemokine-mediated immune regulation, host–pathogen interactions, and development of anti-inflammatory or immunomodulatory therapies relevant to both veterinary and human medicine.
