  • The Bovine CCL11 (Chemokine (C-C motif) Ligand 11, also known as Eotaxin-1) ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of CCL11 in cell culture supernatants from cattle and can also be used to measure CCL11 in a wide variety of biological sample types reported in the literature, including serum, plasma, whole blood, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, synovial fluid, and tissue lysates from organs such as lung, liver, spleen, and lymph nodes, supporting a broad range of immunology, inflammation, and translational research applications. CCL11 is a chemokine primarily produced by epithelial cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and macrophages, and it plays a central role in recruiting eosinophils and modulating Th2-type inflammatory responses. In the bovine model, CCL11 is widely studied in the context of parasitic infections, allergic reactions, and inflammatory diseases, where its expression reflects immune activation and eosinophil recruitment. Measurement of CCL11 provides valuable insight into immune regulation, disease progression, and the efficacy of immunomodulatory or anti-inflammatory interventions. Reported measurements of bovine CCL11 have detected basal serum and plasma levels of approximately 30-250 pg/mL, with elevated levels-often 300-2,000 pg/mL-following infection, allergen exposure, or inflammatory challenge, and measurable expression has also been observed in tissue lysates from inflamed or immune-activated organs. The kit contains a capture antibody, detection antibody, and recombinant protein standard for assay development, and these antibodies have been validated to function together in an ELISA format using the provided standard. Optimal buffers, antibody concentrations, incubation times, temperatures, and assay conditions have not been predetermined, allowing researchers to optimize assay sensitivity and dynamic range based on their specific sample type and experimental requirements. Bovine CCL11 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 11), also known as eotaxin-1, is a member of the CC chemokine family that regulates eosinophil recruitment and type 2–associated immune responses in cattle (Bos taurus). CCL11 is produced primarily by epithelial cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and activated immune cells in response to Th2-associated cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-13, and it functions mainly through the CCR3 receptor to promote chemotaxis and activation of eosinophils, as well as certain Th2 lymphocytes and basophils. In healthy cattle, basal CCL11 expression is typically low, but levels may increase during parasitic infections—particularly gastrointestinal nematode and lungworm infections—as well as allergic-type inflammation, mastitis-associated immune responses, and respiratory disease. In veterinary and agricultural research, bovine CCL11 serves as a biomarker of Th2-skewed immunity and eosinophilic inflammation, providing insight into host defense against helminths, vaccine responses, and immune regulation in cattle.
