  • The Chicken IL-17F (Interleukin-17F) ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of IL-17F in chicken (Gallus gallus) cell culture supernatants and can also be used to measure IL-17F in additional biological sample types reported in the literature, including serum, plasma, intestinal lavage fluid, and tissue lysates, with minor protocol modifications recommended to optimize performance across different matrices. IL-17F is a pro-inflammatory cytokine belonging to the IL-17 family and is produced primarily by Th17-like T lymphocytes, γδ T cells, and other innate immune populations, where it plays a key role in mucosal defense and inflammatory signaling. IL-17F functions by stimulating epithelial and stromal cells to produce chemokines and antimicrobial peptides, promoting recruitment of heterophils and other leukocytes to sites of infection, particularly at intestinal and respiratory barrier surfaces. In healthy chickens, circulating IL-17F levels are typically low or near the limit of detection, but concentrations may increase during enteric infections such as Eimeria spp. (coccidiosis) and Clostridium perfringens-associated necrotic enteritis, respiratory infections, Salmonella challenge, or vaccine-induced immune activation, depending on disease severity and immune status. Measurement of chicken IL-17F provides valuable insight into Th17-mediated immune responses, mucosal inflammation, host-pathogen interactions, and immune regulation in poultry health and avian disease research. The ELISA kit contains a capture antibody, detection antibody, and recombinant chicken IL-17F protein standard validated for use together in an ELISA format; kit components are not supplied in matched quantities and may be purchased separately. This product is for research use only, not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and is manufactured in the USA.

Chicken IL-17F (Interleukin-17F) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine belonging to the IL-17 family that contributes to host defense and inflammatory regulation in chickens (Gallus gallus). IL-17F is produced primarily by Th17-like CD4⁺ T cells, γδ T cells, and other innate lymphoid populations in response to microbial infection and immune stimulation. It signals through the IL-17 receptor complex (IL-17RA/IL-17RC-like receptors) to induce expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines such as CXCLi1 and CXCLi2 (avian functional homologs of IL-8), and antimicrobial peptides, thereby promoting heterophil recruitment and enhancing mucosal barrier immunity in respiratory and gastrointestinal tissues. In healthy chickens, basal IL-17F expression is generally low but increases during bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections, including Eimeria spp. (coccidiosis), Salmonella spp., and avian influenza virus, as well as following vaccination or immune challenge. IL-17F often acts in concert with IL-17A to amplify inflammatory signaling and mucosal defense. In poultry immunology research, chicken IL-17F serves as a biomarker of Th17-type immune activation and inflammatory responses, providing insight into host–pathogen interactions, vaccine-induced immunity, and regulation of avian mucosal immunity in commercial and experimental poultry systems.
