  • The Rabbit G-CSF (Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor, CSF3) ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of G-CSF in rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) cell culture supernatants and can also be used to measure G-CSF in additional biological sample types reported in the literature, including serum, plasma, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid, and tissue lysates, with minor protocol modifications recommended to optimize performance across different matrices. G-CSF is a hematopoietic growth factor produced primarily by monocytes, macrophages, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts in response to inflammatory cytokines and infection, and it functions through the G-CSF receptor (CSF3R) to stimulate proliferation, differentiation, mobilization, and survival of neutrophil precursors in the bone marrow, as well as enhance the functional activity of mature neutrophils. In healthy rabbits, circulating G-CSF levels are typically low or near the limit of detection, but concentrations can increase significantly during bacterial infection, systemic inflammation, endotoxemia, tissue injury, or experimental immune challenge, depending on disease severity and timing of sampling. In biomedical and translational research, rabbit G-CSF is particularly relevant in models of neutropenia, sepsis, inflammatory lung injury, wound healing, cardiovascular injury, and regenerative medicine studies. Measurement of rabbit G-CSF provides valuable insight into granulopoiesis, neutrophil mobilization, innate immune activation, and evaluation of hematopoietic or immunomodulatory therapies. The ELISA kit contains a capture antibody, detection antibody, and recombinant rabbit G-CSF protein standard validated for use together in an ELISA format; kit components are not supplied in matched quantities and may be purchased separately. This product is for research use only, not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and is manufactured in the USA.

Rabbit G-CSF (Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor, CSF3) is a hematopoietic cytokine belonging to the colony-stimulating factor family, which also includes GM-CSF (CSF2) and M-CSF (CSF1) that regulate the development and function of myeloid immune cells. In rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus), G-CSF is produced by macrophages, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and other stromal cells in response to infection, inflammatory cytokines, or tissue injury. Rabbit G-CSF binds to the G-CSF receptor (CSF3R) expressed on myeloid progenitor cells in the bone marrow, activating intracellular signaling pathways such as JAK/STAT, MAPK/ERK, and PI3K–AKT, which promote the proliferation, differentiation, and survival of granulocytic precursor cells, particularly neutrophils. In rabbit immunity, G-CSF plays an important role in innate immune defense by regulating neutrophil production and mobilization during bacterial infection or inflammatory responses. Rabbits are also used as animal models for studying neutrophil biology and inflammatory disease, and G-CSF has been investigated in rabbit models of bacterial pneumonia, where stimulation of granulopoiesis enhances neutrophil recruitment to the lungs and improves bacterial clearance, providing insights into host defense mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for infectious diseases.
