  • Multi-species IGF-1 (Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1) (catalog RP1330) is a yeast-derived growth factor supplied lyophilized without carrier protein in 10% trehalose; it has no affinity tags and is naturally endotoxin-free, and should be reconstituted in sterile PBS that contains at least 0.1% carrier protein. The protein is ~7.6 kDa, 70 amino acids long (full sequence provided), and >98% pure by SDS-PAGE, with amino-acid homology to cattle, dog, goat, domestic guinea pig, horse, domestic cat, human, crab-eating macaque, domestic ferret, American mink, Indian flying fox, large flying fox, Chinese rufous horseshoe bat, pig, bottlenose dolphin, giant panda, American buffalo, water buffalo, wild yak, zebu, Bactrian camel, wild Bactrian camel, Philippine tarsier, southern white rhinoceros, sooty mangabey, long-tailed chinchilla, green monkey, Ord's kangaroo rat, ass, Przewalski's horse, western lowland gorilla, thirteen-lined ground squirrel, Weddell seal, Yangtze River dolphin, rhesus monkey, pig-tailed macaque, drill, Malayan pangolin, Alpine marmot, gray mouse lemur, Upper Galilee mountains blind mole rat, northern white-cheeked gibbon, Pacific walrus, killer whale, small-eared galago, pygmy chimpanzee, chimpanzee, leopard, chiru, olive baboon, sperm whale, Sumatran orangutan, black snub-nosed monkey, golden snub-nosed monkey, and alpaca. Store at -20°C (stable up to twelve months from date of receipt; working aliquots with carrier protein stable ~3 months) and avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Product origin is the USA. It is commonly used to study IGF-1 signaling and cellular processes (including regulation of growth, metabolism, cell proliferation, and survival); typical experimental uses include cell-culture stimulation and growth assays, signaling studies, ELISA and neutralization assays, flow-cytometry and Western blot controls, and antibody generation/validation. Kingfisher Biotech products are supplied for research applications and are not intended for medicinal, diagnostic, or therapeutic use.

Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) is a highly conserved peptide growth factor that plays a central role in regulating growth, development, tissue maintenance, and metabolic processes in mammals including cattle (Bos taurus), dog (Canis lupus familiaris), dolphin (Delphinidae spp.), goat (Capra hircus), guinea pig (Cavia porcellus), horse (Equus caballus), cat (Felis catus), human (Homo sapiens), mink (Neogale vison), monkey (nonhuman primates), ferret (Mustela putorius furo), pig (Sus scrofa), and bat (order Chiroptera). The IGF-1 protein is identical at the amino acid level among these species, reflecting strong evolutionary conservation and essential biological functions. IGF-1 is produced primarily in the liver in response to growth hormone stimulation and circulates in the bloodstream bound to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), which regulate its stability, transport, and tissue availability. It is also produced locally in many tissues, including muscle, bone, adipose tissue, and the nervous system, where it acts in autocrine and paracrine signaling. IGF-1 binds to the insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R), a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor, activating intracellular signaling pathways such as PI3K–AKT and MAPK that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, and metabolism. Functionally, IGF-1 promotes somatic growth by stimulating skeletal development, chondrocyte proliferation in growth plates, and bone formation, while also enhancing muscle protein synthesis and inhibiting apoptosis in multiple cell types. In addition to its growth-promoting effects, IGF-1 contributes to tissue repair, neuroprotection, immune regulation, and metabolic homeostasis, including modulation of glucose and lipid metabolism. Due to its broad biological roles and cross-species conservation, IGF-1 is widely studied as a key endocrine and paracrine regulator in developmental biology, veterinary science, aging research, and translational biomedical studies.
