  • Bat CCL2 (C-C Motif Chemokine Ligand 2) (catalog RP2311BT) is a yeast-derived cytokine supplied lyophilized without carrier protein in 10% trehalose; it contains no affinity tags, is naturally endotoxin-free, and should be reconstituted in sterile PBS with at least 0.1% carrier protein. The protein is ~8.6 kDa, 75 amino acids in length (full sequence provided), and >98% pure by SDS-PAGE, with 100% amino-acid homology to Jamaican fruit-eating bat. It is stable for up to twelve months at -20 °C from receipt, with working aliquots (with carrier protein) stable for ~3 months; avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. The product is manufactured in the USA. Jamaican Fruit-eating Bat (Artibeus jamaicensis) CCL2 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 2), also known as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), is a pro-inflammatory chemokine that plays an important role in recruitment of monocytes, macrophages, and other immune cells to sites of infection or tissue injury. CCL2 signals primarily through the CCR2 receptor, activating downstream pathways that promote leukocyte migration, inflammatory cytokine production, and coordination of innate immune responses. In A. jamaicensis, a bat species that serves as a reservoir for diverse viral pathogens, CCL2 is of particular interest for understanding how immune cell recruitment is regulated during infection while limiting excessive inflammatory damage. Controlled expression of CCL2 may contribute to balanced inflammatory responses and tissue repair, supporting the ability of bats to tolerate viral infections with minimal clinical disease.
