IL-6 is a pleiotropic cytokine primarily produced by macrophages, T cells, and endothelial cells, and it plays a central role in stimulating acute phase responses, promoting B cell differentiation, and regulating inflammation and immune signaling. In the chicken model, IL-6 is widely studied in the context of bacterial and viral infections, inflammatory diseases, and vaccination responses, where its expression reflects immune activation and inflammatory signaling.
