  • The Rabbit CCL3 (Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 3, also known as MIP-1α) ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of CCL3 in cell culture supernatants from rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and can also be used to measure CCL3 in a variety of biological sample types reported in the literature, including serum, plasma, whole blood, and tissue lysates from organs such as spleen, lymph nodes, lung, and liver. While the kit is optimized for cell culture supernatants, minor modifications to the protocol may be required when measuring CCL3 in other sample types to ensure optimal sensitivity and accuracy, allowing researchers to adjust buffers, antibody concentrations, incubation times, temperatures, and other assay conditions as needed. CCL3 is a chemokine primarily produced by activated macrophages, T cells, and dendritic cells and plays a central role in immune cell recruitment, inflammation, and host defense against infection. In the rabbit animal model, CCL3 is widely studied in the context of infectious disease, inflammatory responses, and immunomodulatory research, where its expression reflects chemokine-mediated immune activation. Measurement of CCL3 provides valuable insight into immune signaling, inflammatory responses, disease progression, and the efficacy of therapeutic interventions, with reported levels in rabbits typically detected at low picogram-per-milliliter concentrations under basal conditions (~10-120 pg/mL in serum or plasma) and increasing during immune challenge, infection, or inflammatory stimulation, depending on sample type and experimental context. The kit contains a capture antibody, detection antibody, and recombinant rabbit CCL3 protein standard for assay development, and these antibodies have been validated to function together in an ELISA format using the provided standard. The quantities of kit components are not matched, and individual components may be purchased separately. This product is for research use only and is manufactured in the USA.

Rabbit CCL3 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 3, also known as MIP-1α, macrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha) is a pro-inflammatory chemokine that regulates recruitment and activation of immune cells during inflammatory and infectious responses in rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus). CCL3 primarily signals through the CCR1 and CCR5 receptors, promoting chemotaxis of monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, natural killer (NK) cells, and activated T lymphocytes to sites of infection or tissue injury. In rabbits, CCL3 is produced by activated macrophages, dendritic cells, epithelial cells, and lymphocytes in response to inflammatory stimuli such as microbial products and cytokines including TNF-α and IL-1β. CCL3-mediated leukocyte recruitment contributes to host defense and immune activation in conditions such as bacterial infections, viral diseases, and inflammatory tissue injury. In rabbit research, CCL3 is particularly relevant in models of inflammatory disease, infectious disease, and tumor immunology, where chemokine-driven immune cell infiltration influences tissue inflammation and immune responses. While CCL3-mediated immune cell trafficking supports pathogen clearance and immune surveillance, excessive or prolonged expression can contribute to chronic inflammation and tissue damage. As a regulator of leukocyte migration and inflammatory signaling, rabbit CCL3 supports studies of host–pathogen interactions, immune regulation, and inflammatory mechanisms relevant to both veterinary health and comparative biomedical research.
