  • The Rabbit CCL2 (Chemokine (C-C motif) Ligand 2, also known as MCP-1) ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of CCL2 in cell culture supernatants from rabbits and can also be used to measure CCL2 in a wide variety of biological sample types reported in the literature, including serum, plasma, whole blood, cerebrospinal fluid, synovial fluid, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, and tissue lysates from organs such as liver, spleen, lung, and lymph nodes, supporting a broad range of immunology, inflammation, and translational research applications. CCL2 is a chemokine primarily produced by monocytes, macrophages, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts, and it plays a central role in recruiting monocytes, T cells, and dendritic cells to sites of inflammation, as well as regulating immune responses during infection and tissue injury. In the rabbit model, CCL2 is widely studied in the context of viral and bacterial infections, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory diseases, where its expression reflects immune cell recruitment and inflammatory signaling. Measurement of CCL2 provides valuable insight into immune activation, disease progression, and the efficacy of immunomodulatory interventions. Reported measurements of rabbit CCL2 have detected basal serum and plasma levels of approximately 50-350 pg/mL, with elevated levels-often 400-2,000 pg/mL-following immune stimulation, infection, or inflammatory challenge, and measurable expression has also been observed in tissue lysates from inflamed or immune-activated organs. The kit contains a capture antibody, detection antibody, and recombinant protein standard for assay development, and these antibodies have been validated to function together in an ELISA format using the provided standard. Optimal buffers, antibody concentrations, incubation times, temperatures, and assay conditions have not been predetermined, allowing researchers to optimize assay sensitivity and dynamic range based on their specific sample type and experimental requirements. The quantities of kit components are not matched, and individual components may be purchased separately. This product is for research use only and is manufactured in the USA.

Rabbit CCL2 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 2, also known as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, MCP-1) is a pro-inflammatory chemokine that regulates recruitment and activation of monocytes, macrophages, and memory T cells during immune responses in rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus). CCL2 signals primarily through the CCR2 receptor, activating intracellular pathways that promote leukocyte migration, cytokine production, and coordination of innate and adaptive immune responses at sites of infection, tissue injury, or inflammation. In rabbit health and research, CCL2 is particularly important in inflammatory and cardiovascular disease models, including atherosclerosis, where macrophage recruitment to vascular lesions contributes to plaque formation and progression. CCL2 is also involved in infectious disease and pulmonary inflammation models, influencing immune cell infiltration and tissue remodeling during bacterial or viral infections. While CCL2-mediated monocyte recruitment supports host defense and tissue repair, excessive or prolonged expression can promote chronic inflammation and tissue damage. Because rabbits are widely used as translational models for cardiovascular disease, inflammatory disorders, and respiratory pathology, characterization of rabbit CCL2 supports studies of chemokine-mediated immune cell trafficking, host–pathogen interactions, and inflammatory mechanisms relevant to human disease.
