  • The Feline CCL2 ELISpot assay is designed to evaluate CCL2-secreting cells by sensitively detecting and quantifying low-frequency chemokine-producing cells at the single-cell level. CCL2, also known as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), is a chemokine that plays a key role in recruiting monocytes, macrophages, and other immune cells to sites of inflammation through interaction with the CCR2 receptor. In cats, CCL2 is involved in regulation of inflammatory responses associated with viral infections, chronic inflammatory disease, and tissue injury. Measurement of CCL2 is particularly important in feline research for studying immune responses to infections such as feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline leukemia virus (FeLV), feline coronavirus (FCoV), as well as inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases. The antibodies in this set recognize CCL2 with homology across multiple felid species, including Felis catus (domestic cat), Puma concolor (puma), and Acinonyx jubatus (cheetah), supporting applications in both domestic and wildlife felid research. This assay enables researchers to quantify CCL2-producing cells to better understand chemokine-driven monocyte recruitment and inflammatory immune responses. The Feline CCL2 ELISpot kit contains a Capture Antibody, Detection Antibody, and Standard Control sufficient for the development of up to two (2) ELISpot assays. The included antibodies have been validated for performance in an ELISpot assay using the provided Standard Control. Additional materials and reagents required to complete the assay are not included. Individual components may also be purchased separately. Made in the USA. For research use only.

Feline CCL2 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 2, also known as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, MCP-1) is a pro-inflammatory chemokine that plays a key role in recruitment and activation of monocytes, macrophages, and memory T cells during immune responses in cats (Felis catus). CCL2 signals primarily through the CCR2 receptor, activating downstream pathways that promote leukocyte migration, cytokine production, and coordination of innate and adaptive immune responses at sites of infection or tissue injury. In feline health, CCL2 is particularly relevant in inflammatory and infectious diseases such as feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) caused by feline coronavirus, feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) infection, chronic kidney disease, and inflammatory bowel disease, where elevated CCL2 expression contributes to macrophage recruitment and local inflammatory pathology. While CCL2-mediated immune cell trafficking is essential for pathogen defense and tissue repair, dysregulated or excessive expression can drive chronic inflammation and immune-mediated tissue damage. As a biomarker of monocyte/macrophage recruitment and inflammatory activation, feline CCL2 is widely studied in investigations of host–pathogen interactions, immune regulation, and disease pathogenesis. Characterization of feline CCL2 supports veterinary research into inflammatory disease mechanisms and provides comparative insight into chemokine-driven immune responses relevant to human infectious and inflammatory disorders.
